Here’s why Android 12 is still popular among users
Google has launched the Android 13 operating system with a giant bundle of enhancements and features. Still, Android 12 still manages to top as a popular mobile upgrade.
There is a lot to explore when it comes to the Android 12 operating system. From the system and UI changes to the advanced privacy settings, the company has offered some amazing gifts to its users in the form of Android 12.
No doubt, Android 13 packs some new additions over its predecessor. On the other hand, you will only find many redesigns and some general improvements to the internal surface.
Also Android 12 lands on the consumer’s device with various interesting and reflective tools. Therefore, a huge number of changes and functionality made Android 12 a popular upgrade.
Android 12 biggest change – Material You
Material You is the first and foremost change that excites users about Android 12. Google generated a unique theme engine code – monet for its software. This code develops vibrant color pallets taken directly from the phone’s wallpaper.
The tech spreads this color system to the entire UI, providing a new look to your Android device. However, Android 13’s Material You further improves material you with new additions such as adaptive icons.
Advanced Privacy Features
Android 12 privacy features deserve appreciation. A few tools that caught my eyes are:
- Privacy Dashboard
- Reduced Location Access
- Clipboard Notification
- Camera and Microphone Access
Privacy Dashboard: The privacy dashboard informs how often an application access device’s location, camera, and microphone. As a result, you have the power to block any suspicious app from accessing your smartphone.
Reduced Location Access: With Android 12, users can control the location. Instead of the precise location, the apps can only fetch an approximate location. Accordingly, you can decide whether to share your exact location or just an approximate location including a distance diameter over your actual location.
Clipboard Notification: Clipboard access is simplified and added a pop-up message (Toast text). It will also alert you when any app access your clipboard.
A clipboard is a hub of sensitive information or copied content. As a result, an app could read and store anything from cache memory. Therefore, the clipboard memory leakage security has been further improved in Android 12.
Camera and microphone access: Android 12 enables you to easily disable the camera and microphone access, using quick settings. Moreover, this action will not result in the app’s crashing issues.
Could have been better
Android 12 could have been more efficient with comfortable toggles and easy-to-use functions. For instance, the performance class feature that often becomes quite confusing for users. However, we cannot ignore the other responsive components of this iteration.
There is a lot to explore when it comes to the Android 12 operating system. I will not say that Android 12 is a perfect operating system. Every build has some pros and cons and so does the respective software. But, Android 12’s simple but progressive features make it favorable among consumers.
Android 13:
Another reason is, Android 13 brings some platform limitations, which is not the case with Android 12. However, the Android 13 is still under beta test in major OEM devices such as Samsung. Meanwhile, it’ll take some time to rollout this software in all of the eligible Android devices.
